Work with me

What I can help with

I work with open-source technologies that are free from traditional licensing costs and restrictive vendor models. This means you can build and operate infrastructure without being locked into per-server, per-VM, per-device, per-user, or similar licensing fees.

Open source software is free to use, but implementing it properly is not free. Designing the architecture, deploying and integrating the software, securing it, tailoring it to your environment, automating its operation, documenting it, and keeping it reliable in production requires experience, expertise, and time.

You are not paying for a software license. You are paying for the expertise required to make the software work properly for your organization or bussines.

Infrastructure — cloud, hybrid or on-premises

Design, build, improve, or migrate infrastructure.

  • Linux administration and troubleshooting
  • Linux server hardening, best security practices
  • Virtualization with Proxmox or VMware
  • Custom VM templates, Linux images, and containers
  • Hypervisor migrations
  • On-premises and hybrid storage
  • Infrastructure documentation and operational guides
  • Infrastructure design and architecture

Automation

Turn repetitive infrastructure work into something consistent and repeatable.

  • Ansible configuration management
  • Terraform and Infrastructure as Code
  • Automated deployments
  • Custom scripts and tooling
  • Reproducible server and VM provisioning

Monitoring

Know what is happening before users start reporting problems.

  • Zabbix, CheckMK, Prometheus/Grafana or your prefered enterprise monitoring stack
  • Custom monitoring templates, items, checks, and alerts
  • Improving existing monitoring where the defaults aren’t enough
  • Building visibility where there currently is none
  • High-availability monitoring infrastructure
  • Centralized remote-access and jump-server infrastructure
  • Session recording and auditing

Backups and disaster recovery

Backups are only useful if they can actually be restored.

  • Bacula (Project Bacularis)
  • Veeam
  • Backup infrastructure design
  • Recovery testing
  • Disaster recovery scenarios
  • Recovery documentation and practical runbooks

Remote access and device management

Build secure, self-hosted infrastructure for remote access and centralized device management.

  • RustDesk self-hosted remote desktop infrastructure
  • Centralized remote-access environments
  • Android device management with Headwind MDM
  • On-premises and No-GMS Android deployments
  • Kiosk-mode deployments and managed device fleets

Containers and orchestration

From a single server to production environments requiring orchestration and repeatable management.

  • Docker and containerized workloads
  • LazyDocker for fast, terminal-based container management
  • Docker Swarm for container orchestration, scaling, and service deployment
  • Container deployment and operational tooling

Development and project tooling

Use practical, self-hosted tools where they make sense instead of adding unnecessary complexity or licensing costs.

  • Lazygit for fast terminal-based Git workflows
  • OpenProject for project planning, Gantt charts, costs, and structured project management
  • Taiga for lightweight agile project management
  • Self-hosted development and collaboration tooling

Inherited a server nobody understands?

I can help audit the existing environment, understand what’s actually running, identify problems and risks, and establish a practical path forward.

Why I build things

A lot of my projects start with the same question: how can this become something nobody has to do manually ever again? That’s led to automation tools, deployment scripts, and monitoring integrations built for real use, not demos.

Some things I’ve built

Most of what I build is published as open source. See Projects for larger infrastructure builds, and Posts for technical write-ups.

Have an infrastructure problem?
